Czechoslovak pavilion was opened two months after the Nazis invaded Prague. The opening took place thanks to financial support of American compatriots, marking one the first acts of the WWII Czechoslovak resistance movement. The pavilion influenced both Czech and American art, with Czechoslovak artists who participated in the construction and design of the Pavilion staying in the United States to continue in their work.
